Charles Camoin
Nature morte aux pommes et aux raisins
Description
From 1905 to 1910, Charles Camoin lived alternately in Paris and on the Mediterranean coast, where he concentrated primarily on landscape painting in the open air. In Paris, he met Henri Matisse and joined the Fauvists. In addition to landscapes and portraits, still lifes also offered him numerous opportunities for development. Here he was able to test his colour theories and techniques in a concentrated manner. He used colours not only for the naturalistic reproduction of objects, but also as a central means of expression to create a certain atmosphere and emotion.
The work will be included in the catalogue raisonné being prepared by Archives Camoin.
