Description
The portrait depicts the approximately four-year-old son of the Berlin art historian Dr Johannes Sievers (1880–1969), who was a friend of Slevogt’s and co-authored the Catalogue Raisonné of Max Slevogt’s prints. On the reverse of the painting is a child’s drawing depicting Slevogt’s wife, Nini, with their children Nina and Wolfgang Slevogt.
