Description
The poster for the exhibition by the ‘Brücke’ artists’ group at the Emil Richter Art Salon in Dresden forms part of the early exhibitions organised by the artists’ collective, which was founded in 1905. The art salon at 13 Prager Straße developed into an important exhibition venue for the young avant-garde and repeatedly provided the ‘Brücke’ artists with opportunities to exhibit their work publicly.
For "Brücke", posters served not only to announce exhibitions but were also artistically designed by individual members – in particular by Ernst Ludwig Kirchner. In this context, the present design also combines functional information with a minimalist, striking visual language, reflecting the group’s endeavour to make their artistic concerns visible in the public sphere.
