The present drawing is a virtuoso and immediate study of nature. Calame captures the idyll of a densely overgrown embankment on a mountain river with rapid brushstrokes. His masterful use of washes creates impressive light effects and an atmospheric play of shadows, which can be observed particularly in the foliage and the distant fir tree tops. - Only isolated tiny brown spots, otherwise in fine condition.
