Description
Virgin Barbara Wintergerst, known as "Babette", was the youngest daughter of the old painter Anton Wintergerst. She initially received her artistic training from her father and later from her brother Josef Wintergerst, who, as a member of the St Luke's Association, belonged to the closest circle of Nazarenes in Rome. Virgin Barbara, who remained unmarried throughout her life, worked as a drawing teacher and achieved artistic recognition as a painter of portraits and miniature genre pieces. Together with her brother, she designed the ceiling frescoes in the choir and nave of St Anthony's Chapel in Ellwangen-Schrezheim in 1821. - Thread binding damaged. Some individual leaves slightly stained and with small marginal tears. In places not disturbing handling marks from leafing through the book. In good condition for its age.
