A superb, early impression of the third state with rich drypoint burr, after the addition of “F bol f. 1642“ at the top. Dated 1642, this intimate depiction of a philosopher in his study, surrounded by a globe and books, significantly reflects the influence of Rembrandt's etchings from the 1630s. Trimmed to or on the platemark. – In very good condition. Very rare!
