Guest book of the Munich innkeeper Hedwig Sonnenschmidt. Bound book with half-leather binding featuring elaborately decorated metal fittings on the cover, book block with gilt edges. 8°/octavo format (approx. 22 x 15 cm). Numerous entries by various Simplicissimus artists from the years 1917–1927, including Thomas Theodor Heine, Eugen Kirchner, Olaf Gulbransson, Erich Erler, Ingrid Sieck (daughter of Rudolf Sieck), Paul Wilhelm Keller-Reutlingen and Ragnvald Blix.

Das Gasthaus Hedwig Sonnenschmidt befand sich in der Lotzbeckstr. 5, München, die dem Ausbau des Altstadtrings weichen musste (heute Oskar-von-Miller-Ring). Aus Dankbarkeit für die wohl recht deftige Kost der Wirtin in den wirtschaftlich schwierigen Jahren nach dem Ersten Weltkrieg verewigten sich die Künstler mit ausgefeilten Karikaturen und Lobeshymnen in ihrem Gästebuch.
