Description
The woman depicted is Ria, the artist’s wife. She and their son Panos are frequently portrayed by the artist in his works.
The family lived in Germany for many years, particularly near Munich and Berlin, before returning to Greece in 1934. Ria Bouzianis played a significant role in the artist’s life; his work is now regarded as a bridge between German Expressionism and modern Greek art.
