Description
The subjects are very likely Gerda and Erna Schilling, whom Kirchner met in Berlin in 1912. In the background, the painting ‘Six Dancers’ (WVZ Gorden 193) and the wooden sculpture ‘Bathers Drying Themselves’ (WVZ Henze 1911/02) can be seen, both from 1911.
