Claude Lorrain (Claude Gellée)

A good early impression of Mannocci's rare second state B (of five), with the two accidental scratches in the sky right. Trimmed on or slightly within the platemark. Only the first and second states of this print are contemporary, all subsequent states posthumous. The first state, with the etched signature obscured, is known in one impression only. – Verso a few brown spots and remains of former mounting tape in the upper corners; otherwise in good condition.
