Inscribed on the title leaf: ‘Friedrich Preller, Olevano August 1860’. The individual sheets are topographically labelled and dated, and include notes on the travelling companions.

This sketchbook was created during his second major trip to Italy, which he undertook with his father, Friedrich Preller the Elder, and features views of, amongst others, Olevano, the Sabina Mountains and Tivoli.
