Old label on the back of the stretcher: ‘Leutstetten Princess Helmtrud’s property’. Ludwig III and his wife Marie-Therese moved into Leutstetten Palace in the Würm Valley in 1875. The woman depicted is their sister, Princess Mathilde of Bavaria, born in 1877.
