Eugen Knaus
Stillleben mit Gummibaum
Description
Knaus' "Stillleben mit Gummibaum" is part of a tradition that culminated in the Weimar Republic. Fellow artists such as Alexander Kanoldt are direct precursors who treat the motif of the rubber tree in a New Objectivity manner. Knaus' work can be interpreted as a continuation of this style after the Second World War, whereby he draws on the pictorial motifs established in the 1920s and a fine, realistic pictorial language.
