Description
A fine Meder b impression, with the vertical wiping scratch in the left shield nose and before the long diagonal stroke above the woman's body. On a sheet without watermark, thread margins. Depictions of coats of arms have been a traditional subject for printmaking since the 15th century. Before Dürer, Master E.S., Martin Schongauer and the Master of the House Book had engraved coats of arms. The engraving is one of Albrecht Dürer's major prints for its technical virtuosity. – The upper corners made up. Two horizontal, smoothed creases. At the upper edge with a closed tear and a small backed loss of paper, there retraced. Two small closed tears in the coat of arms. At the left edge with two small restored spots, otherwise in good condition.
