Israhel van Meckenem

A very fine, early, slightly silvery impression, after the diagonal lines in the wall with the chandelier, yet before the vertical lines on the step underneath the arm of the soldier kneeling at right. Part of the largest Passion series, consisting of twelve sheets (L 142-153), with secondary scenes in the background. Thread margins or trimmed to the borderline. – On the reverse, paper slightly stained and thinned in places. An inconspicuous, smoothed horizontal centrefold. A few tiny marginal tears. Somewhat wavy and creased in the lower margin. Still in good condition. Very rare!
