Description
The ram's head in the upper right, quickly executed in black chalk, served as a model for the same in Berchem's painting "A farrier shoeing an ass near ruins" in the Dulwich Picture Gallery, London (inv. no. DPG088). The attribution to the artist was confirmed by Annemarie Stefes. Fitted into a mask made of Japanese paper. - Individual tiny brown stains. The lower right corner set. In very good condition.
