Description
Alfred Rethel married his fiancée Marie Grahl in Dresden in October 1850. Shortly afterwards, however, she fell seriously ill with the infectious disease typhoid fever and was in danger of dying. This allegorical memorial sheet was created in 1852 on the occasion of her recovery and tells of care and relief in quiet, serious beauty about the recovery process from "Febris" (fever) to complete recovery (Salus). - Fine creases in the margins. The corners partially bumped; the upper left corner torn out. In good condition for its age.
