Arthur Grimm
Still life with a bouquet of roses and a pewter plate
Description
In this still life, Arthur Grimm combines a simple vase with roses and a polished pewter plate - seemingly casually placed next to each other on the tabletop. The cool, rich colours and the exciting juxtaposition of the objects are reminiscent of still lifes by Éduard Manet. In the spring of 1908, Grimm travelled to Paris, where he belonged to the circle of German artists working there in the lively atmosphere of the Café du Dôme.
