Tom Petersen
Siesta under the Pergola
Description
Petersen began his studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts before transferring to the Free Art School, which pursued a more open, modern approach to art education. He continued his studies in the studio of Léon Bonnat in Paris, before studying for a short time under the Danish artist Peder Severin Krøyer. Even before completing his studies, Tom Petersen exhibited his works, initially at the renowned Charlottenborg exhibitions in Copenhagen. His travels took him across much of Europe, including a trip to Italy in 1890. His works captivate with their distinctive play of light and tranquil atmosphere.
