Beschreibung
Good impressions with a fine margin around the borderline, without text. Emperor Maximilian I commissioned the 'Weißkunig' series, which was intended to illustrate his own history as well as the the one of his ancestors. The text was written by Marx Treitzsaurwein. The 'Weisskunig' was intended as a supplement to the 'Theuerdank' and was primarily meant to depict the emperor's political life. After Maximilian's death in 1515, the work remained a fragment. In the course of the 18th century, 236 wooden blocks were found at Graz Castle and published for the first time in Vienna in 1775. – Slightly time-stained in the cut-out of the mount, one sheet with a white spot verso, otherwise in good condition.
