A fine lifetime impression of the penultimate state with the rough inky plate edges at the lower edge and fine horizontal wiping marks as characteristic of early impressions. Trimmed to or on the platemark. Listed in Nowell-Usticke with the note "A rare, lightly bitten portrait." – The border redrawn in places (mainly in the left edge). An unobtrusive repaired tear from the top center to the hat; tip of the bottom right corner replaced, otherwise in good condition.
